JC, if you are going to do a story on this please call svearel BIG EAST coaches and ask them if they have ever had incidental contact with a recruit. Ask them if they have ever been approached by a recruit? And ask them if they exchanged quick pleasantries and moved on. Don't just put BG on trial because of a hit piece on si.com. If you do that then the si.hit piece will have served it purpose- to perpetuate rumor and innuendo. And also ask Cheek and other recruits if they have ever had any words/contact of this kind with any other coach(s) during the recruiting process? Also, ask Cheek and other recruits if any coaches talk trash about their fellow coaches. And please name names. Enough with anonymous attacks.PLEASE don't put BG on trial unless EVERYBODY has to sit on the witness stand and answer questions with a thousand watt light bulb shining on their face.In fact, I hereby volunteer to assist you with research, phone calls, interviewing and writing.

Good to hear from you Mike. I always know extalcy what to write to get you to pipe up, right? Reasonable people can disagree on these rankings, but Syracuse did just lose AT HOME to Pitt by DOUBLE DIGITS. I understand the Kansas-Cornell analogy by we all know Kansas would beat Cornell 9 out of 10 times. That's the definition of a fluke. Can we say that about Pitt-Cuse? I don't think so. Let me see more and then I will adjust accordingly. As for West Virginia and Villanova, I've had them 1-2 in that order since October and I see no reason to change that right now. Nova losing to Temple in one of those crazy Big 5 games (where upsets are commonplace) doesn't upset the apple cart in my mind. Again, it'll all play out. I actually enjoyed Boeheim's postgame after Seton Hall, even his potshot at the media about OOC schedule strength (at least the quotes were interesting and usable). Much better than the normal blah-blah-blah you get from a lot of the other guys. Bitter, the point about last year's Big East is how it was the deepest league ever. Obviously no league was better at the top than those mid-80s Big Easts. If it makes you feel better the next time it comes up I will put an asterisk and a footnote making this distinction. Piratefocus,I've been beating the drums for Fero Hall as you know, but he is way too small to play center in the Big East. Have you seen the size of the postmen on the other teams? Big John is a space-eater and is useful in short spurts (alas, his knees have robbed him of the rest). Fero has to beef up big-time before he can hold his own at center for any reasonable lengths.

Jerry, you say Willard and his staff have sky-high job security. That's soinhtmeg that may disappoint fans right now, but they'll have to deal with it. But when is this coaching staff (starting at the top) going to be held accountable for the poor job of recruiting. Isn't that what it's all about at this level? Here are my 3 points.1. No Point GuardWillard has had 3 years to recruit a point guard which is MORE than enough time. He put all his eggs in one basket (Kyle Andersson) and lost. No one remembers who finished second. What was Plan B? (Grennan, Wilson, Maayan). Not one of those should ever be considered a starting Big East PG. You don't have to be a head coach to see that. Gibbs? That was a long shot from the beginning for him to qualify this year. While other programs seem to get handed hardship waivers more often than Ray Lewis receives Deer Antler extract, when was the last time SHU got a hardship waiver? Exactly. For all of his faults (and he had too many to list here), at least Bobby Gonzalez gave us Eugene Harvey and Jordan Theodore.2. Local Recruiting ties. When was the last time this staff signed a local NJ kid out of high school? PJ and Amaker thrived on NJ. Is it because this staff doesn't have strong ties with the high school coaches? Just wondering. And where is our recruiting base? Shouldn't every good program have a base of recruiting? It may be a different sport, but Greg Schiano recruited NJ, NY, PA, DC, CT and FL. For everyone who knocked Louis Orr, at least he had a recruiting base (Chicago/Midwest). What's Willard's? The Canaries Basketball Academy? What other D-1 coach is scouting that team?3. Top 125 playersThere hasn't been this little buzz about Seton Hall basketball since Blaney's last years. But at least then, we had Shaheen Holloway. This staff hasn't recruited one Top 125 player out of high school. Which of the current players do fans really get excited about? Fuquan's the closest thing, and he was the other guy's recruit. People say Willard can coach, and that may be true, but unless you have players who can dribble, run an offense, hit open 3 s, and knock down a big shot in crunch time in a 1-point game, it's a recipe for disaster. It's year 3 for Willard. This hire in my book is looking more and more like Norm Roberts, and we all know how that ended.

Thank you so much! I was hoping you didn't mind that post; it was the only way I could think of to let you know about the polrbem. I sat there for an entire day wondering why none of my regulars were stopping by, and then a friend of mine IRL emailed me to tell me about it. otherwise, i never would have known.

Mr. Vincent Nigel Murray. He had my heart the moment he sttraed spouting weird, (but completely relevant, or course!) facts. Every episode he was in was amazing, even if the plot otherwise was not my cup of tea. (Can't think of any right off the bat but I know there is some )My absolute favorite line of his? Comes from season 6 s Babe in the Bar. I beg of you not to look at me directly. Even after not having seen that episode for MONTHS I still remember that line perfectly.
