I have the CharGriller Akorn, and I have performed a nbmuer of the modifications suggested on this site. I love this cooker, but I seem to have a problem keeping my lump charcoal lit for longer durations. I can get it started, and get my temp up to the desired range, but after about 2 or 3 hours, the fire actually starts to go out! I have to break the cooker all the way back down, and get it going again. My food still turns out great, it's just a hassle. I love cooking brisket's and boston butts, but I'm scared to obligate my cooker to a burn that long because of this issue. I saw a few discussion topics on your forum about this, and one of your users (I can't remember his name) suggested making a pyramid with a valley in the middle. The middle section is where you would put your starter, he suggested the cotton balls soaked in vegtable oil. I've tried using that method, but I don't think I'm doing it correctly. Was there ever a how to video or article made to show how to properly execute this?
