I like the idea of an open thread a lot. The subject with which we're dealing is plagued with disbelief, denial and (deliberate) disinformation. Our board would benefit from clear statements in an open thread about the kind of respectful discussion we seek to encourage and about why we believe it's vital for everyone to try to add to the body of information we're building, while being sensitive to the feelings of the survivors posting here.

sooner or later, we will have to open this place up, to include a wider source of information and discusion.
it's the infusion of new views that stimulates and incourages exchange..
i guarantee people will grate..
but i think at least viewing the threads, and allowing an open thread to new comers until permission to join, may make this a very enjoyable place ( and it's a NICE place!)
