Exercising actually gives your body a jolt of enregy as well as a shower. Take a hot bath and when your done, heat a little lotion and massage it into your skim circular motion, drink chamomile, himalaya sleep tea (from India, you may have to find in an herb store) or sleepy time tea. Don't watch TV while you are in bed, you will want to stay up to watch the show, read a book and if you sleep with music, have it playing soft or if you like it quiet, close your door and plug your ears. Do this on a day when you do not have to wake up early or go to bed early. Do not take Nyquil or Tylenol PM just to help you sleep. When you don't take them, you will not be able to sleep all over again. You have to find ways to relax your body.

And with his enormous medical practice, he's seen just about everything.Of course I can't evaluate if his advice is medically correct, but his advice has the ring of truth and is backed up with reasoning and diagrams to help the reader understand why he is offering his suggestions. I also like that he's open to a wide variety of disciplines not just western medicine. And unlike western medicine, he focuses on preventative injuries.Overall, this is an impressive resource, with diagrams and explanations that are easy to follow. Dr. Metzl alerts us to what tends to go wrong and how you can prevent injuries or (when appropriate) treat chronic injuries yourself. And each section includes a sidebar letting you know when it's wise to head to a doctor.At the core of Dr. Metzl's preventative approach is the importance of strenthening your kinetic chain. That is, doing exercises that have a include movement which build up your muscular strength so your body handles the stress of srotps with good support. Like most good ideas, after reading this it makes obvious sense in retrospect, but are you doing it now and do you know the best exercises for it? In The Athlete's Book of Home Remedies, Dr Metzl gives lots of exercises to help build a flexible and enduring strength that keeps you out of the doctors office. A good book for any athlete wishing to spend more time playing that healing.
